David Naylor Building – Room NL 203 \nPresenters: \nValentina Tamayo Velasquez – Valentina is a third year PhD student working under the supervision of Drs. Bernard Le Foll Andrea Waddell. Her research includes using machine learning in psychiatric settings to enhance patient safety and outcomes. This includes the development\, piloting\, and implementation of a predictive machine learning model named the Mental health Adverse event Prediction (MAP) Tool. \nAnthaea-Grace Patricia Dennis – Anthaea-Grace is a second-year PhD student in the lab of Dr. Antonio Strafella. Her research aims to use machine learning and AI for efficient and early Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis and prediction. \nDeween Piyasena – Deween is a first year MSc student and his research focuses on developing and validating machine learning models to improve clinical decision-making in lung transplantation. Specifically\, he designs predictive models focused on transplant recipients\, forecasting key outcomes including post-transplant pulmonary function metrics and time to extubation. His work aims to provide clinicians with detailed\, actionable insights to support lung transplant care and optimize post-operative management strategies. \nJerry Li – Jerry is a fourth-year PhD student working with Dr. Mojgan Hodaie. He uses machine learning to investigate how the presence and resolution of chronic pain via neurosurgery affect the brain and body. \nThis is an in-person-only event!
