DESCRIPTION:Dear Temerty Faculty of Medicine Members\, \nWe are thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the third Temerty Faculty of Medicine Research Showcase\, which will take place on Friday\, July 11 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology (40 St. George Street). We aim for this event to bring together research-based upper-year undergraduate students\, graduate students\, medical students\, postdoctoral fellows\, faculty\, and staff from the various graduate and clinical departments across the Temerty Faculty of Medicine for a day of networking\, collaboration\, and learning. \nTo register for this FREE event\, click below!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister TODAY!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Program \n\nKeynote Presentation: An invited speaker will showcase their work and facilitate an engaging question & answer segment following their talk.\nResearch Symposia & Poster Sessions: At registration\, trainees and postdoctoral fellows are invited to submit poster abstracts. The top 12 abstracts will be selected for presentation during symposium talks at the event. Please note that we require that you complete both the registration and abstract & panel submission forms by Tuesday\, June 10 at 11:59 PM. Prizes will be given to top presenters!\nPI Talks: This engaging session aims to provide attendees with a discussion of research methods\, experimental design\, troubleshooting strategies\, and more.\nCareer Coffee Chats: Attendees will be matched to 3 professionals based on the attendees’ sector preferences at registration. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for breakfast as we hear from our fellow IMS researchers on AI in Medicine \nWhen: Thursday\, July 24th\, 2025\, from 9am – 10am\nWhere: C. David Naylor Building – Room NL 203 \nPresenters: \nValentina Tamayo Velasquez – Valentina is a third year PhD student working under the supervision of Drs. Bernard Le Foll Andrea Waddell. Her research includes using machine learning in psychiatric settings to enhance patient safety and outcomes. This includes the development\, piloting\, and implementation of a predictive machine learning model named the Mental health Adverse event Prediction (MAP) Tool. \nAnthaea-Grace Patricia Dennis – Anthaea-Grace is a second-year PhD student in the lab of Dr. Antonio Strafella. Her research aims to use machine learning and AI for efficient and early Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis and prediction. \nDeween Piyasena – Deween is a first year MSc student and his research focuses on developing and validating machine learning models to improve clinical decision-making in lung transplantation. Specifically\, he designs predictive models focused on transplant recipients\, forecasting key outcomes including post-transplant pulmonary function metrics and time to extubation. His work aims to provide clinicians with detailed\, actionable insights to support lung transplant care and optimize post-operative management strategies. \nJerry Li – Jerry is a fourth-year PhD student working with Dr. Mojgan Hodaie. He uses machine learning to investigate how the presence and resolution of chronic pain via neurosurgery affect the brain and body. \nThis is an in-person-only event!
